A long history of success
Unidata's history is long and rich in experience, established in 1985 it was a pioneer of microcomputer technology in Italy offering the first PCs, servers and networks intensively using microprocessors and competitive development of x86 server platforms, over time it increasingly approached networks, local and geographic and since 1994 it began activity in the Internet sector as one of the first ISPs in Italy and progressively nearly all its activity became concentrated in telecommunications and System Integration.
Our numerous and important clients are witness to the continuous and constant commitment to them.

Innovation in Wireless
Unidata has contributed considerably to the development of wireless connectivity on free frequencies: it was an innovator in technologies and methods for proposing the services through Wi-Fi and Hyperlan. Unidata was one of the promoters and realisers through the Consorzio Roma Wireless consortium and has realised a Wi-Fi network in the city of Rome and in other city centres, a successful model and an innovated example for many other initiatives in Italy.
VoIP Telephony
Unidata was also one of the first companies to perceive the potential of VoIP – that is, “Voice over Internet Protocol” – through which it integrated the supply of Internet services with telephone services channelled onto data transmission lines, with the double objective of reducing traffic tariffs and lowering telephone charges.
Future services
New services and technological models are now becoming available, such as "Unified Communications", these are tools focussed in integrated heterogeneous transmission technologies into IP which allow companies to communicate quickly and effectively.

Another very important innovation in the progress of maturity is the so-called "Cloud Computing", that is, the virtualisation of resources such as services, workplaces and applications in Data Centres, such solution guarantee a strong competitive advantage on the market, great flexibility, reliability and efficiency with a strong reduction in costs, such as for example energy and more generally the so-called TCO (total cost of ownership).
State-of-the-art infrastructures
In the city of Rome, Unidata has realised a Metropolitan Area Network in fibre optics, proprietor of more than 300 km connecting the most important telecommunications nodes, telephone exchanges, the Namex internet exchange point Namex and Unidata’s two Internet Data Centres. Furthermore, the fibre optics network is the basis of an important Hyperlan and Wi-Fi wireless network. The Data Centres house all the equipment of the proprietary infrastructure.
